An Agent Requested My Manuscript

—An Agent Requested My Manuscript—

Last week, on November 29, 2023, my manuscript, NIGHTLIGHTER: BOOK I OF THE JUNK DISKO CHRONICLE, was requested by a literary agent at a reputable agency in New York. For me, this was—is—huge. A milestone for sure. It’s a sign, a good omen, hopefully. An exciting sentiment:

There is hope.

Hope is huge. It’s something to believe in, something to look forward to. It’s the first full request I’ve received from an agent. A big hurdle for a debut author. By no means is it a guarantee of representation, but it’s certainly a step in the right direction. It indicates to me that someone is interested. Someone shares my desire to bring Junk Disko to life. It’s a win for me. And I’m riding the high.

Yet, still, I maintain realistic expectations. Agents reject manuscripts all the time post full request. And it’s not uncommon to receive said rejection after months of waiting. So now, I wait. I’m still querying agents, hoping that more bite, more catch just a little bit of Junk Disko Fever. I’m feeling good. Maintaining the grind. I’ll update when relevant.

That’s all for now.
